Havering Mind

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

There are 2 types of Mental Health First Aid that we provide: Adult and Youth.

The Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training is a 2 day course which provides an in-depth understanding of mental health, looking at the most common mental health issues and how to notice the signs and symptoms. It also covers interventions, prevention techniques   and how to guide someone towards the right support.

Completing this two day course qualifies the attendee as an Adult Mental Health First Aider.

The Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training is also a 2 day course which like the adult course provides an in-depth understanding of mental health and common mental health issues, with a more specific focus on the issues faced by young people today, including bullying/cyber bullying, body image problems and substance misuse. The course also teaches the importance of promoting protective factors and good parenting. The course will increase awareness around young people’s mental health and allow you to develop practical skills to identify a range of mental health issues and support a young person to get the help they need.

Completing this two day course qualifies the attendee as a Youth Mental Health First Aider.
